randomhostname.com is a service created by system and network administrators for system and network administrators. Anyone who has had to name servers or workstations on a tcp/ip network has had to come up with cool hostnames on demand and then deal with the resulting fallout of irritated users and questioning managers who are unhappy with the results.

Fear no more, as this service produces random hostnames in any selected category. You can deflect all responsability and blame onto impassionate technology by saying it was the computer that did it.

Believe it or not, this is the original and one and only (as of its creation in July, 2006) random hostname generator on the internet. What happened is some of us at work had to come up with hostnames, so naturally we turned to the internet, did a search on "random hostname" and turned up nothing. Astonished, we did a quick check and the domain was open. So, it was purchased and set up, and there you have it.

The lists are written by Americans, so if they appear to present lists of things that are Americanized or Americacentric, they are. Sorry, we're all kind of boring and not particularly well traveled here. Don't like it? Then submit your own lists.

We've added commercial links just to cover the cost of webhosting. So, thanks for clicking those adverts!

Enjoy.
